Help, trouble playing multiplayer

Hi, can anyone help me please? I have all four wiimotes (remotes for wii) and I can only play wii sports with more than one player. When I play the wii sports game, when it's time to choose how many players are going to play, in the right side shows a square with the "more" button, so we can add more remotes. With the other games, this option isn't shown, so I don't know (even after spending an hour trying with my friends) how to get the wii to recognize the remotes. I have the Super Mario Party 8 game, and we didn't manage to get it playing with more than one person. Can you help me please? I'm frustrated! Thanks :)

On a side note, synchronizing the Wii-Remotes to the console before the game starts helps. :cool:
