PSPgo Getting An App Store?

The App Store is probably the single best thing about the iPhone. All those useful things collected in one spot where they're easily accessible? Handy. Might Sony, then, be looking to open an App Store of their own?

"Sources close to game development" have told Destructoid that Sony will be unveiling just that at this year's Games Con in Germany. This new element to the PSPgo shopfront will feature "smaller, 'non-retail' games and applications", which will be priced at roughly $2-$6 and must come in at under 100MB.

Such a move wouldn't surprise me, and wouldn't surprise you either. The PSPgo would easily support smaller digital titles, while Sony have long been dabbling with non-gaming applications for the handheld, releasing everything from PSP translators to street maps.

Isn't this already called the 'Playstation Network'? ^^;

What's the point in an app store when they charging so much for the thing that hardly anyone buys it. Remember this word Sony... subsidise.

Yea... The PSN is already out.
And the PSP Go already stated that they were also going to create "Smaller games to play for 15 minutes or so" which would cost less and be similar to Iphone games.

I think this might not such a bad idea - BUT... ($ony if you're reading)

1. DON'T make a separate app store for this. We already go this in the form of the PSN. (someone already said this)

2. DO make relevant features that people have been asking for since the PSP-1000.

3. Keep your promises and keep these "apps" priced LOW if not, free. We are buying a $250.00 dollar game machine after all.
