No volume, something stuck in headphone jack

A while ago, in a moment of carelessness I managed to break my earbuds while they were plugged into my psp. The end result was that a piece of the earphone plug is stuck in the psp's earphone jack and since my psp thinks there are earphones plugged it, it no longer plays sound through the speakers.

I was wondering if there was some sort of hack I can use to get my psp to play through the speakers even though it thinks there are headphones plugged in. Or maybe a hack that would trick the psp into thinking that there are no headphones plugged in?

If these are not options, I was also wondering if opening the psp would make removing the broken piece easier.

I have already tried things like putting super glue on the end of a toothpick to see if I could "fish" it out... it didn't work.

Any suggestions?
