Can anyone suggest the best freeware 3d modeling application for a modeling beginner to create models for use in lua, and the best format to export them as?
well the thing is, you have to be able to build a 3D rendering engine, without a rendering engine there is no use for the 3d model..
if you know how to do this, it is possible to use "wings3D" a freeware 3d modeling program, not sure what it can export to, but if you have the know-how, it is possible to build a compiler, builder, and renderer..
the other option is to spend US$3500.00 on Autodesk 3DS Max(as I have done), and then you have unlimited building-rendering-exporting options.. or it is possible to use a 3d modeling program with a rendering engine built in, and just model, render inside the software to a bitmap, or jpeg, and use that as a 2D sprite :D
