in general the only people really interested in using CDRWs are devvers (who most already have coders cables) or newbies, who would flood the forum with rants about how you broke their DC.
the DC wasnt meant to read CDRWs. The entire drive assembly is soooo sensitive and has such a short lifespan that it probably isnt a good idea to try to push it in anyway.
quzar is right, modding dc to read cdrw will shorten its life span a lot. you should have a big warning at the begining of the tutorial about this.
but for hardciore dreamcast fans with a spare dreamcast to test new releases this is a godsend
CDr's are pretty cheap, and i'm scared as heck to mess up me and my wife's DC, but maybe if i get enough whootspa i might try it on a junkr.
I found the best line 'CDR makes ugly sounds' quite amusing ::), as for the average user, if you've got a spare DC that you don't mind messing up or killing completely go ahead with the trials, if not stay well away.
For the sake of the mod itself, you should send that to Devcast, it would make a great addition.
Ok, I'm adding another big warning right now, it won't hurt.
I updated the page with some new pictures too.
true, but you might want to say that it shortens the life of our dreamcast too ;DQuote:
Warning this modification could shorten the lif of your dreamcast.
