House of The Dead arcade hack?

I was thinking about making an arcade cabinet based off of a dreamcast running House of the Dead. The General Idea for the Hack would go like this.

1. Run some sort of homebrew that patches the ram at the time specified (as hacking the actual game files would be next to impossible)

2. The first patch would replace the "Press start to play" Text with "Insert coin to play" Then I'd have something rigged up so that when a coin is inserted it connects start to gnd and the game is started.

3. I'd probably look for a way to make "insert a coin to continue playing" work too.

As of now, I'm looking for a way to view the DC ram while in action. Anyone know how to do that? I know gscc can view ps1 and n64, not sure about DC though.
