I didn't read your entire initial post in that link, but I gathered what you were talking about. Â*This goes back to my big gripe about game makers and some consumers: Â*remakes, remixes, and sequels are the devil. Â*Why not create an insane original that may be revered from years down the road?
So, it all sounds very cool but history is history. Â*You learn from it, you don't repeat it (or try to do it better, but I digress).
I'll read the rest of your post, though. From what I skimmed it was very interesting. And that was just a brain storm?

But the topic is making money from it, although to a point there, sega have of course had its smash pack range, which was on the pc.
Although sega are in the process of licencing out some of there ip's. see here.
So you can't rule out seeing them on the pc.
