We've been going through the process of adopting a Great Dane recently. I had a Great Dane when I was in high school and every since I've wanted to have another. Sure, I guess I could go out and buy one from a breeder or (shudder) a pet store, but with some many dogs needing homes I just can't bring myself to do that.
So instead we adopt. We've filled out paperwork, done phone interviews and today had a home visit from two volunteers of the Great Dane rescue along with their nearly 200 pound Newfoundland. It was like having a small Mountain Gorilla pop in for a visit. We just found out we've been given the thumbs up. Now we get to pick one. I am SUPER excited.
