Sonic Adventure 2 Chao Data Failure

I know this might seem like a bit of a strange question, but here goes.

I got my version of sa2 and gave it a try in my dreamcast. It ran absolutely perfectly in every way, except for one thing... The chao garden data.

When I enter the chao garden, the name of the level shows up with the red knuckles spin dash ball thing, and my dreamcast stops doing the chugging sound that means that its processing stuff. After about 30 seconds the word failure pops up in the top right corner. after that, the words "File was not saved" pops up in an orange bar across the screen.

So I tried getting a different version and still nothing. After the third different version, still nothing. So, I want to know why my chao data isn't saving, is it happening on all isos of sa2 or what??? All answers and comments are appreciated and I hope this is posted in the correct section this time lol

We don't support piracy here. Go online and buy the game, I assure you that you can find it for less than $25 on ebay (I just looked, and saw one buy-it-now for less than $25).
