any clue with .pmf files?

There is no public converter for pmf. You can purchase one from Sony for about $2000. Some devs like, mathieulh are trying to produce their own pmf files though.

a pmf is a movie file. So no you can't make it a picture file :D

there's something to make .pmf files, but ppl who know about it keep it secret. you can convert .pmf files to .avi easily tho.
