How to create a Selfbooting PSX game?

i am not talking about any illegal matters here, i do own games that i personally back up and want to use them as tests to how to create a selfbooting back up.

but i was hoping by now someone mighten have found a way to do it.

is there like a patch to patch up an image to help it self boot or something?

or something otherwise?
