What is Kernal Mode?

What is kernal mode? I know it has smoething to do with GTA. Please explain it to me. :confused: :)

Kernel mode is the use of the PSP's "second core" of the CPU (media engine) User mode cannot access this media engine, while kernal mode can. Using kernal mode speeds up emulators and homebrew

Before recently, the GTA hack couldn't use kernal mode, just user mode. Being able to use kernal mode opened up the chance of a downgrader, which came soon after :)

So, the latest version of eLoader via GTA:LCS runs in Kernal mode automatically? I finally got my hands on LCS after all this time, and though this opens up a great, new world of homebrew for the PSP, I can't downgrade because of my PSP's motherboard, and I'm a-fearin' that I'll be forced to run slow emulators and whatnot.

the latest version of the eloader still doesn't load up kernal automatically. But Fanjita and Ditlew are working on it.

to luis 05, go shove a stick up ur ass. i know what kernal mode is used for, i just want to know what its doing in the psp. there's nothing noob-ish about that. i use titles like that to get as much as a response as i can. :mad:
