how to upgrade wii menu safely?

hello. i have just bought a wii and have sucessfully installed the homebrew channel. i am on wii menu 3.4E. what i want to know is , is there a way to upgrade the wii menu to version 4.0 or even better the newest 4.3 without affecting my homebrew channel.

ive seen guides on how to install homebrew onto 4.3 , but they require smash bros or indiana jones. is there a way to install homebrew without having to buy these games?

There's no need to upgrade your Wii system menu past 4.1 because the 4.2 and 4.3 updates were only made to stop Homebrew. If you want to safely update to system menu 4.1 I recommend following this guide Softmod Any Wii start at chapter 2 and you will end up on system menu 4.1 when you're finished. Good Luck!
