Should 'Gay' Be Banned in Game?

Gothix, a Dragon's Call player, was absolutely pissed off by [GH] Haze, a player volunteer, due to the action of muting him in game. Necessary?

Having the word "Gay" in the in-game filter is probably intended to stop homophobic insults being thrown around rather than to discriminate against homosexuals.

Sexuality is probably irrelevant in those games so it shouldn't be necessary to type the word, so I think the filters probably stop more problems than they are creating.
