Connecting Dreamcast to VCR

Hi, basically I have a problem when I connect the scart lead to the vcr. Everytime I turn the DC on, the TV screen becomes very dark. I tried other scart leads but with no success. I get a clear picture when I try plugging it through my TV but not with the vcr. I don't think its a problem with the vcr because I tried connecting my gamecube & xbox & theres no problem at all. I really want to get it to work properly with my vcr so I can record stuff on my camera.
Any help with this problem?

thats a common issue with VCR AV jacks. Maybe you could show us your VCR back or give us its name so we can look it up. tell me all the cables you are using. if its just recording, use AV cords to the tv and cxable cord to the VCR.
