Gaikai pursues 'major US games site' deal

Co-founder Dave Perry tells MCV of possible new beta strategy ahead of London Games Conference
Gaikai, the innovative and disruptive cloud gaming service, is close to securing a landmark deal with “a USA gaming site”, the company’s co-founder has told MCV.
Ahead of his speaker session tomorrow at the sold-out London Games Conference, Perry said the Gaikai beta may be run by one of the biggest game websites in the world.
“Gaikai is ready to launch now, we've started working on Server Design 2.0 while we wait for launch to happen,” he said.
“At the 11th hour a major USA gaming site has asked us to let them run our Closed Beta. If the deal can be done quickly we will do that, if not we will invite 100,000 people in to play from our own users.”
Gaikai – which streams game content over fast PC connections – is preparing to launch its initial business model that offers dynamic and near-instantly playable game demos to the PC gamer market. Publishers as big as EA are already signing with the firm.
Perry said Gaikai needs extensive testing in beta to ensure it fully supports all PC configurations imaginable.

“I'm getting pretty impatient, I want to get it live!” he said.
