2.6 Dwngrade question
Does the 2.6-1.5 dwngrade have to use a GTA UMD? Can it simply be executed without the GTA? Also, when I read the guide it said something in the requirements for the dwngrade that had me worried. Can a PSP that was purchased with version 2.5/6 on it be downgraded?

The 2.5/2.6 downgrader does indeed require GTA(the unpatched, older version).
The downgrader requirement that you were worried about was the need for a non-TA-082 motherboard. You can see if you have one by looking in the UMD slot at the top right corner of the motherboard, as shown here
0okm has been working on a downgrader for TA-082 motherboards with Firmware version 2.5, but I am unsure as to the safety or the progress of the program.
If your 2.5/2.6 psp does not have a TA-082 motherboard, you can safely downgrade using GTA or upgrade to 2.71 and downgrade without GTA.

How do you know if it has a TA-082 motherboard?
-
Open the UMD drive and look in the top right corner, where you see a little green. If there is any writing there, than it is a TA-082 motherboard.

And if it's not a TA-082 you dont need to GTA to downgrade :p
Upgrade to 2.71 and downgrade without GTA

Ok I opened it up and I see no green in the top right corner. Can someone provide a pic of where I should be looking/what I should be seeing? ^^
EDIT:Ok so if it has no text in the upper right corner, does that mean that I CAN'T do the downgrade without GTA? I see text in the upper left but not the right...

your good then you can downgrade

Yay! XD So if I don't have text in the upper right (with the back of the PSP facing me; the upper right), but I have text in the upper left that says IC6001, I can downgrade without using the GTA?

I have the blue, but not the red. Can I downgrade without GTA? I just want to be really careful; I just bought a brand new screen for my PSP after I broke it, and I don't want to put my PSP out of business for months again/forever. >.<
