So if I don't have text in the upper right (with the back of the PSP facing me; the upper right), but I have text in the upper left that says IC6001, I can downgrade without using the GTA by upgrading from 2.6 to 2.8 then dwngrading?

I have the blue, but not the red. Can I downgrade without GTA?
You'd have to update to 2.71, not 2.80. 2.71 can be downgraded without gta, 2.8 can't be downgraded at all. It'd be less risky if you just bought gta and downgraded using the 2.6 downgrader.

another question: can i use the full downgrader with my japanese psp? or is it only for the us psp?
