Urgent Help Needed
tomarrow i am sending my psp to sony for a replacement, after i bricked it in a downgrade.it says that my system will be returned to me if they find any modifications made to it. will they be able to tell if i tryed to downgrade it? i told them it turned off during an upgrade. people say the DOWNDATER folder needed to downgrade is illegal. they wont be able to sue me or anything, will they?

Im not sure if they can detect wether or not you tampered with it during downgrading, but, the chances of them sueing you are 0.
There are no grounds for a lawsuit, the worst they can do is send it back and tell you "Tuff luck, dont downgrade"
I wouldnt think they can find anything to determine the cause of bricking, especially if you told them you turned it off during a downgrade, maybe it does the same thing to it as what bricked yours.
-
when u upgrade, u r writing to the flash, why is there no chance of bricking?
-
there is always a chance of bricking when you mess with the flash utility.
I'm just saying, maybe what bricked yours, is the same thing that happens when you turn the psp off during a FW upgrade.

just dont send them the mem card at least not with the files on it.
They probably can tell, just by doing a dump of the firmware contents.
Not a big deal though, doesnt make much sense to deny themselves the future business.
On the other hand they may not care if they get your business.
-
yeah, they can only tell if they do a firmware dump, like NoQuarter said :)
-
They'll probably just send you a ta-082:(

You got that right,I seem to remember something similar happend to another forum member here and he ended up with a ta-082.
Not the end of the world considering we have a eloader on the way, might have to wait for kernal access though.

most likely they will just send out a 2.80 ta-082
they wont bother to check…unless they can get money out of you…
