Best Homebrew Route for Me?

Hi, I just imported a white PSP from Japan and I would like to be able to run homebrew on it. I was sure that it would end up being a TA-082 motherboard with 2.8 firmware, but to my delight I got a non-TA-082 mobo with 2.71 firmware (well, it was actually 2.60, I upgraded to play LocoRoco).
Now I'm wondering what route I should take to get homebrew running on my new PSP. I know I can downgrade easily, but (for whatever reason) I would like to keep my firmware upgraded. I could DevHook to play LocoRoco, but I would rather have 2.71 by default. I saw that Dark_AleX has a 'reverse devhook' which allows you to play 1.5 homebrew after booting from 2.71, which seems interesting to me; but there is also Dark_AleX's 2.71 homebrew enabler which seems less reliable. However I am not sure of the process through which I would accomplish any of this, and I am terrified of bricking my brand new PSP. Any insight into how I should approach this situation would be greatly appreciated,

Both reverse devhook and the new 2.71 mod by Dax require flashing things to your firmware.You have to use HenC to run reverse devhook.I use 1.5 and am perfectly happy with it.

i think that having 1.5 default and emulating 2.71 is much better, easier to understand anyway, but if you want to...

you could downgrade to 1.5 then use Dark_AleX's custom firmware and update to 2.71 and have the same advantages as 1.5 :)

yea degrade (generic downgrader) to 1.50, then upgrade to 2.71 se-a (ill find links in a minute)
that way you have both advantages of 2.71 and play hombrew for 1.50
