What can it do?
Pretty much anything. Simple games, complex games, media center tools development, loaders, etc. It all follows the PPC structuring and uses C/C++ as it's development language.
It can do pretty much anything within the Gamecube's limitations and your programming skills. You cannot use cygwin with this, instead just use MinSys.
Looks, cool, i should try it
You should, it has a crap load of potential. Let me know how you do abeisgreat.
It was greatly overlooked because of the Xbox, but the Gamecube could be almost as good in the homebrew games and apps department (limited only by the power). I'd like to see someone utilize the broadband adapter to have some multiplayer games, maybe Quake (I have attempted a Quake port, but it is still taking me forever) or something.
There is also a development library used with DevKitPro called LibOGC. You can find it at the below URL.

I might be a bit late but I just found libOGC. And it's still very interesting because even if the Wii is signed you can still run GC homebrew on it. Now I'm not sure I have the skill to write something using the libOGC but I could definately write something in SDL for gclinux.
its a shame you need AR to play homebrew
I think maybe it is posible to write a mediaplayer in NGC mode of Wii and stream movies through WiFi, is it posible?
