Help with Dark_Alex 3.03 OE Firmware?

I just downgraded my firmware to 1.50 using the Noobz website. Now I'm told that the next step is to download Dark_Alexs 3.03 OE firmware, as that will give me the ability to run homebrew as well as other cool stuff... can anyone possibly tell me what benefits 3.03 OE has over 1.50? as the list on the site is all jargon to me.... Please help, thanks for your time.

Well, it's just 3.03 with homebrew support, and the recovery menu. If you need help, you can use my tutorial in my sig. The pack contains ALL required files also.

all homebrew apps? or do i need extra stuff for them? I can see that EBOOT apps will work, but will LUA apps and other apps?
