Australian psp and firmware downgrade?

My brother hasd given me his psp to add dark alex's custom firmware too.

It currently has firmware 2.60 so i was going to upgrade it to 2.80 then downgrade to 1.5 with the easy 2.80 downgrader however when getting the 2.8 firmware i notice that they are regional and i will need to use the aus/nz firmware.

this all begs the question, Will all this upgrading/downgrading work on my brothers aus psp?

I really dont want to brick it for him :)

just upgrade it to 2.71 and use the easy downgrade to downgrade to 1.50... but i am not sure about the regional thing as i don't own a psp ...

You should downgrade, I just downgraded my new (I got it today:D) japanese blue psp 3.03 to 1.5 then 3.03 OE-C :D!!!. and I used US files.

Region, does NOT matter.
