Wii U and 3DS game releases to 'increase dramatically' in 2013
Nintendo has promised hungry Wii U and 3DS owners that there'll be a dramatic increase in the number of games released for each system as the year progress. http://cdn.medialib.computerandvideo...mb_wide300.jpgReleased in 2011, the handheld was initially criticised for its light software line-up, and Wii U's game library is also taking time to flower.But yesterday Nintendo announced a range ofnew 3DS games, and US boss Reggie Fils-Aime told GamesIndustry.biz that the pace of releases "is going to be dramatically ramped up" over the next nine months.The rest of the year is looking equally bright for Wii U, according to the executive. "What I would say about Wii U - and what Mr. Iwata has said - is that the pace of launches has been slower than we hoped. But as we prepare for E3, the pace of launches for Wii U is going to dramatically increase."Additionally, Fils-Aime said Nintendo has seen a significant increase in 3DS game sales this year in the States, with digital offerings playing a strong role."We have 15 Nintendo-published titles available, both physically and digitally [on the 3DS]," he said. "So far in 2013, of those 15 available in this format, 11 per cent of sales have come through full digital downloads of those games."So far in 2013 - through April 15 - 3DS game sales are up 55 percent versus last year, counting both physical and digital."
