Next Call of Duty to drop 'Modern Warfare' name, called Call of Duty: Ghosts

Activision’s next Call of Duty will be called Call of Duty: Ghosts.
That’s according to a retail listing on Tesco Direct. It could be wrong, of course, but the clearly final product cover image it includes more or less proves its authenticity.
It lists the release date as December 31^st – a placeholder, certainly. The game will almost definitely arrive in early November.
The art also named Infinity Ward as the developer. That’s not unexpected, of course – last year’s Black Ops II was a Treyarch title so it’s definitely IW’s ‘turn’. Why the Modern Warfare name has been dropped remains to be seen but could possibly be linked to the out-of-court settlement with former Infinity Ward bosses Jason West and Vince Zampella.
Rumours of the ‘Ghosts’ names were doing the rounds exactly a month ago. Just goes to show that sometimes the whispers are true.
