90 per cent of iOS app downloads are free

To pay or not to pay, that is the question.
Past consumer surveys have found that the majority of app users hate seeing ads on their smartphones and tablets.
However, when given the choice between paying for an app which rids it of ads and getting a free version which contains ads, consumers regularly choose the free option, according to a survey from app analytics company Flurry.
Even if a paid app does not have a free or LITE version, there will always be a similar free app for consumers to choose. With around 80 per cent of 'downloaders' on iOS choosing free apps in 2010 - 2012 increasing to 90 per cent in 2013.
On the Android side of things it appears the want for free apps also prevails over the paid option - regardless of the dreaded ad inclusion.
