How do i make games?

how in the nine hells do i make a game with lua?!! I tried looking in those stickied topics, but those were to confusing for an ADD kid like me. I don't need to make supr graphics, or really complex gameplay, i just want to make something like a target shooter with graphics similar to Alien Hominid. The gameplay would be similar to the online game "marioworld over run," but the building would be on the far right shooting oncoming mobs of zombies. Anything that is useful and able to be understood by me will be greatly appreciated.

BTW, those zombies would look like kiddie show characters like the teletubbies, barney, elmo, spongebob, etc.

If you want to take 'shortcuts' to making games. Look at GameMaker. Mostly GUI driven and little programming involved if any. However, it is for PC only.
