Dude, no need to upgrade to official.
There is a thing call custom firmware, custom firmware is like a FW1.50 that emulates a newer firmware.
At the moment there is a 3.40OE-a, this has all the advantages of the newest current firmware but also has the advantages of 1.50 official.

This is the custom firmware, be sure to read the README over a few times before doing anything.

How the F have you not heard of it?
-
i'm really not adept at this stuff that's why ;)

but, i'm personally getting bored of my emus at the moment, so if i really wanted to get rid of it and update normally what would i do?

Even though there is no point of offical anymore.
You hit the Network Update on your psp and do it through Wifi.
I'm not sure how stable a offical upgrade would be due to your mobo been patched.
Do it at youre own risk, but seriously Get custom.

Don't upgrade to the official firmware. Follow the instructions for 3.40 OE instead. It gives you everything the Sony firmware has, plus the ability to run homebrew.
Using the official firmware, not only do you lose the option of changing your mind in the future, you also risk bricking.
-
Your risk bricking installing OE, just as you risk bricking install sony's firmware.

And if you DO upgrade to official, BE SURE to only upgrade to 3.03. A crack isn't going to be found for a long time.
