Downgrading question...

Ok, I originally owned a 2.71 TA-82 PSP downgraded it to a 1.51 PSP. Now, As fate has it my 2.71 turned 1.51 PSP got stolen so now I have purchased a new one. This PSP is a 2.60 TA-82 PSP, My question is as I recall the downgrader was meant for 2.71 PSPs with a TA-82 Motherboard, Now does this mean if I upgrade to 2.71 and downgrade it will work? Or no because my PSP had to have came as a 2.71 PSP right out of the box. Sounds like a dumb question, But I don't want to take any chances and brick my PSP.
