Smartphone web traffic exceeds that of device ownership

Almost 100 per cent of all web traffic comes from a mobile in some countries.
The top 15 countries with the highest smartphone penetration have even higher smartphone web traffic, reports 51Degrees.mobi.
Ownership of smartphones in the top 15 countries – led by Denmark, Israel, Spain, Australia and South Korea – averages around 53 per cent.
However the web traffic share from the same 15 countries has averaged at around 90 per cent, displaying that people are using a smartphone to browse the web much more than on feature phones or any other device.
Smartphone traffic from Denmark and Israel, who lead the top 15, is just under 100 per cent.
The US - who currently lead the smartphone shipment market – are down in eighth place with just over 90 per cent of traffic from a smartphone, and just behind is the UK who has stuck fast at ninth place with 90 per cent.
At the tail end of the 15 countries is Norway, who has seen the most similar results between ownership at 67.5 per cent and web usage at 68.9 per cent.
The only country not conforming to this stat is the United Arab Emirates, which showed that even though smartphone ownership is high, actual web usage on their devices is rather low.
