Activision wants to 'increase the appeal' of Wii U

A key executive at Activision has pledged to continue supporting Nintendo's challenged Wii U console, stating that "if we can add to the appeal of the platform then we absolutely will".
Eric Hirshberg, the chief executive of Activision's publishing arm, said it is important that the industry supports itself and that the best games are shown to as many people as possible.

"Nintendo has been a great partner for us. It's had hardware hits and misses in the past, but it has always found ways to remain completely relevant. It has some of the best game-makers in the world, and I wouldn't count them out."
In July, Activision revealed it will publish six games on the Wii U, including Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Though Hirshberg conceded that the Wii U's performance is below par, he made it clear he wants to help the system sell.
"Nintendo is a very successful company but obviously having a rough go with the Wii U launch thus far. I'm sure Nintendo and the rest of the industry wanted a different result for the Wii U, but if we can add to the appeal of the platform then we absolutely will."
His comments come as an executive at another publisher, Bethesda, claims Nintendo has no more opportunity to convince publishers to support the system.
"The time for convincing publishers and developers to support Wii U has long passed," Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines said in aGameTrailers panel talk.
Support for Nintendo from publishing and retail firms has been uncertain for several months.
EA, which is not believed to be working on any Wii U games currently, says it's "monitoring" sales of the system, while Ubisoft has reaffirmed its support for the platform.
