Some newer stuff hasn't been loading so I thought I needed to upgrade the custom firmware (I didn't downgrade it myself, so I don't really know much about the whole process).
I don't know how to go about it or where to start looking, and how obvious it may be.
Currently, the firmware is 3.03 OE-C so I was wondering what I need to do to get it to the latest custom firmware (3.40 OE-A as far as I'm aware).

Just install this straight away from 3.03 OE-C, its safe as i have and many others have used it, and best of all the work is done for you :)
And yes you can install this from 3.03 OE-C without downgrading to 1.5 first

Read the readme very carefully!
You will need thes to sucessfully complete the downgrade;

As i said, follow the instructions in the readme of the 3.40oe-a and you should be fine. any more q's, dont forget to write back!
the installer i gave you is the FULL version, just use that and you wont have to worry if you did something wrong.
Since I don't particularly want to mess anything up, I thought I'd clarify myself.
I am in Europe, the firmwares are labeled North American/US - is there any impact on the process?
The PSP has the initially problematic motherboard - I don't remember the code, but most you probably know what I am on about. Although, it got downgraded by my friend easily.
Lastly, I am on a Mac. The easy installer is an .exe file. So I can't use that. Any other problems with using a Mac in the procedure? (Not the easy install one, but the one suggested by the 1st and 3rd reply?)
Of course, I can connect to the PSP/stick easily.
Firmwares are fine, and just use the regular installer (1st and third reply) to install it. No problems on a mac with that. (Though you should really look into darwin)

YAY. It worked. Everything is fine. I think I didn't copy the dxar file properly, at first. But it's all OK.
