Back when the Wii was Revolution, didn't Nintendo say this was going to be an included feature? I was looking forward to it.

I hope this solves the virtual console problems for me, my tv goes haywire in component mode over the old games due to not being possible to support the display mode in via the component cable. If the vga connector does upscaling then it definitely is worth it.

Only works on progressive scan modes as such it won't work with Virtual Console as all the games on it are displayed in an interlaced mode. I had something similar to this that converted component straight to vga. To be able to get 480p and 480i you need a TV box that has a decoder that supports both.

Compro VideoMate V300 does this quite well and thats what I'm using after finding out that converting straight from component to LCD does not work that well, especially in GC games and Virtual Console,

The video output is not digital or vga right? So, uh, this is a waste.

Thanks a lot for the clarification, the interlace problems really are a bummer, Nintendo wont fix it, they simply say those games wont work on newer tvs, and has shut out the homebrew emus which have had progressive upscaling implemented almost for a decade now.

This is one thing where Nintendo definitely has lost its mind!

All I can say is Nintendo get a clue, add scalers, the code is there. You wont sell one game more to people which have reverted to the sd loader due to the TV problems by shutting down the SD loader via software updates!
