ok so my psp slim was just pandora'd to 3.71 m33. soon after i noticed wallpapers turn black after standby and custom themes just gimme an error code. any reason why its doing that???

Go to Recovery Mode > Advanced > Format and Restore Flash1.
already did.
Have you tried reinstalling your firmware?
