Phablet sales to pass 120m globally by 2018

The phablet market is expected to become a growth area for established smartphone vendors, allowing them to create flagship models targeted at tech-savvy markets.
Sales are expected to surpass 120 million by 120 million, rising significantly form the estimated 20 million in 2013, according to Juniper Research.
The OS market for phablets will most likely be dominated by Android andWindows, as both ecosystems are expected to find success in or have already succeeded in developing regions, and cover a wider price spectrum.
However if rumours surrounding Apple’s entrance into the phablet race are true, it could change these predictions dramatically.
The devices will find that some of the most receptive markets will be in East Asian territories such as South Korea – amongst gamers who desire a larger surface to play on, and China where content streamers desire higher quality screens.
