Mario Kart Wii date just a rumour

intendo has kicked a red shell up the jacksie of rumours Mario Kart Wii has been given an official release date.

As reported by Kotaku, Japanese sources claimed the launch date was set for 10th April over there. It would supposedly retail at JPY 5800 (GBP 27) for a bundle including the Wii Wheel.

But that's nonsense, according to Nintendo. A spokesperson told Eurogamer it's just "Rumour, I'm afraid," adding that "Nothing has been announced."

Well, some things have been announced. Like the fact Mario Kart Wii will feature motorbikes, an online Battle mode and online races for up to 12 players. You can see the original announcement and the game in action via the gamepage.

This serie is a best seller, so releasing it any day would be a success. The online mode up to 12 players is very interesting :)

Lol, I like the sound of it so far. As long as it is released over here (Australia.) by the start of 2009, I'm happy...

Hmm, and HMV are saying UK release date is 11/4/08...

... and I doubt they get their dates from just rumours :)
