Apple barely a contender in South Korean MP3 player market

If you’re an iPod hater there’s at least one country you can move to where the iPod ain’t king: South Korea. Not sure whether the Koreans are immune to Apple’s marketing or simply prefer to keep things in the family, but a new survey released by GfK Marketing Services Korea earlier today puts three homegrown manufacturers in the top three (ReignCom/iRiver came in first place with 31% marketshare, Samsung was 2nd with 14%, and Cowon was 3rd with 13%). And Apple? They came in 13th place after garnering a mere 1.8% of the market.
