Samsung motion controlled smartwatch revealed in patent

A new patent application by Samsung reveals that firm’s plans for a smartwatch that lets users perform tasks by waving their hands in front of the device’s built-in camera.
The recently published patent demonstrates how the built-in camera could recognise movements and the position of the wearer’s fingers to trigger specific commands.
The patent suggests that flicking a finger could push content from the smartwatch to a smart TV.
Other gestures include making a fist, pinching and crossing one arm over another.
Another part of the patent looked at a rotating ring around the edge of the smartwatch’s circular display, which could be used for scrolling through web pages or settings options.
The clock face will also feature a touchscreen, and the device will include Bluetooth, NFC and Wi-Fi connectivity.
A recent report on wearable technology revealed that global smartwatch shipments grew by 250 per cent in Q1 2014, with Samsung’s Galaxy Gear making up 70 per cent of the market.
Last month a patent filling for Samsung's Google Glass rival ‘Galaxy Glass’ was discovered.
The patent shows a headset with a single display in front of the wearer’s right eye.
