Its pulled from a different part of the hardware. GB and GBC games were programmed in Z80, the same as your TI-82 / 83 / 84 / 85 series calculators, and switched over to the Zilog processor when an older game was used. Gameboy Advance titles do not use this technology (it came out in 1976). Backwards compatibility rarely runs natively on newer machines. The same is true for PlayStation and XBox, in order to run older software, they need to switch to a different package whether it be a separate processor or through software emulation.

The GBA has GBC hardware to take care of running GBC games.

What happens is that some (well, a lot) of GBA games use the GBC sound chip (included in the GBA) to generate part of their sound. So a GBA emulator needs to emulate the GBC sound hardware as well--why you see people talking about "GBC sound". It's not sound in GBC games, but rather sounds fron GBA games that use the GBC sound chip :)

OMG.

I just tried this update and im sorry to say i ran into a ton of problems.

KH:COM doesnt work anymore, well it gets about 10 secs into the intro video then it freezes.

Also when i actually ran my bios to see if it was running okay, i got a crash error.

Whats going on. Im using the same bios and the same KH:COM as i did since exophases first release and now its not working.

I think il go back to 0.8 :(

i cant thank you enough..
i mean, i had saved 150 bucks
and was gonna get a DS, primarily for th:thumbup: e GBA games..
like 2 days before i was gonna go to town
(no bestbuy or n e thing in my little town)
your emulator released on dcemu
with the sight that it ran some games full speed
i decided to hold off on that DS
and i couldnt be happier
instead of a DS i just bought a 2 gig stick and kept the rest for random stuff
