i just found out that Sony released 2 version of the gps290. The 1st was just the unit(which i got) and the 2nd was released with a UMD called MAPLUS. I bet ever1 knows that but me..LOL
I met some1 &cough$ who had this umd and they let me try it out. It is only good for japan.
It has lots of info and must of nearly fulled up the umd.
I don't read or speak Japanese so it is hard for me to use as there is no languages settings. I have found out how to use the gps look up section though.
It finds sat very quick and gets a fix with in a 5 mins. It is very overcast here today.
The coor are slightly different then of mapthis which i know has pinpointed me many times.
I will test it out over the next few days but then i leave for Bangkok.

I have decrypted Firmware 3.10 with psardump to geht usbgps.prx and usbacc.prx
When I try to start MapThis with this Files, then it tell me "...cant load usbgps" or anything like that.
With the Files from 3.03 everything works fine.
@All other, MapThis also runs on 3.10 OE-A perfectly ;)

MapThis also Works in Germany with PSP290 - Japan import *hehe*

Just got home from Japan with a Sony GPS module (the one that came bundled with Maplus). I'm dying to use this with MapThis! but I'm a noob to the homebrews. Could anyone point me in the direction of some instructs as to how to get this working (i.e. loading up the right firmware, etc.)?

i got the lastest verison 3.10oe-a and i finally put me my whole metro area on here and when i browse through it, it just gets stuck randomly and then i got to pull out the battier to reboot it, or it reboots by it self.
Here is another beta version for those who wants to try it...
To install, you must ovewrite your current EBOOT.PBP with the new one from appropriate folder and copy the new graphics to system filder.

alpha sort in map/attraction menues..
Note: NMEA recording is currently disabled, untill I workout a better logic and interface to support it..
Since GPS-mode rendering logic was changed in both versions you may need to adjust SPEEDFACTOR value in config.txt to allow smother scrolling...

my mapthis find 3-4 satellite,but it doesn't work,it doesn't point me on the screen,what can i do?
i tested it 5 times yesterday and i got upto 8 sat and a fix ever time. This is quick as well.. Wel done deniska... 100% improvement....
Tried a few times, but I couldn't get it to work on PSP290. The moment when Mapthis tried to load my custom made map, the whole thing hanged and eventually shutdown after a few second. If I try to load the supplied map from the earlier attached version, it works properly and if I try to reload my custom made map again, this time it then loaded fine without problem.
Well, the latest one is an improvement, but not 100%. On a test I made, the signal was jumping around after a while when I stayed still somewhere, then it bounced around and when it got around where it was supposed to be, it crashed. But at least the map loads now. :)
i changed my eboot to the eboot file from gps-290 and when i try too load my map it says "please wait while map is load" and then reboots ? can sum one help?

Does anyone get "real time" tracking with their PSP-290? I mean, when I'm driving, the red arrow is about 1 second behind (meaning, after I pass an intersection, for example, the red arrow is still trying to catch up with me).
Is this just the nature of the beast with all GPS receivers?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i put the prx files from 3.10 and it still shows me "please wait while map is loading" and then reboots, it does this with the new eboot for mapviewer, but it works with the original one
Be sure your map is really downloaded... Look at your _"MAP" repertory : i guess it's empty. Downloading the map from googlemaps needs often a really long time, even if your map is not huge...Quote:
