My favorite character is Cloud then perhaps Master Chief from Halo.
I would be the Red Bomber from any Bomberman game which I am in. Because no matter what game I am in the Blue bomber is there competing with me for the "3rd cool" Bomber color. Everyone loved White and Black Bomber, but no one could pick between Blue and me for the "next coolest" Bomber. Plus red is so much cooler than blue, everyone knows that is the better color..

Goofy haircut & aloof hero cliche aside, I like that he plunges headlong into dark horror, takes a beating and eventually limps out the other end of the tunnel a survivor.
I don't know if this counts as a character but it would have to definitely be the paddle from PONG.... The game that started it all :)
