just tried 11 cso's there and only 2 of them didn't load when using the no umd mode so compatibility seems good

Can't see why you wouldn't upgrade to 2.71 SE. It got no negative side only positive things.
I have not seen any problems with 2.71 SE-B'. It runs 1.00 and 1.50 games and applications just fine, along with UMD games that require firmware version 2.71. :)
