The real story behind this, as far as I can understand (I followed the original thread in the Nintendo boards the other day, where the poster got mercilessly flamed for being so stupid), is that the Wiimote actually knocked over a large trophy, which then went through the window.
According to the poster, the Wiimote was virtually unscathed.
