I think it´s actually great that we will have options to play our homebrew. Definately exciting times for a PSP user.
no. its being worked on.
i would downgraid for ceartian. but im on 2.80
will there be compatibility issues with a 2.71 eloader? i mean will the games be immediately compatible with the loader or will they need to be tweaked?
this wont directly affect me but heres my thoughts on this possiblity.
first if you did downgrade you can still fully emulate 2.71 so you wont lose anything.
second you have custom firmware which can allow you to boot into devhook directly and thereby make it seem like you are running 2.71.
third you can run anything that has already been released whereas the eloader may have compatability issues (initially at least).
eloader could be a good thing for those who are not willing to take the risk of the downgrade (the risk of downgrade would/will be as high as the recent 2.5/2.6 downgrader, maybe even higher)
however the eloader is based on an overflow exploit which means it could have stability issues (yet to be proven or proven wrong of course as it doesnt exist yet) but going by previous eloader experience it 'could' be a little unstable.
in conclusion if you are willing to take the risk go for the downgrader otherwise go for eloader - there will be a need for both. :)
downgrade!!!
Im sure if theres a stable downgrader like the 2.6>1.5 or 2.0 > 1.5 no one will want to stay on 2.7 since it can be emulated on 1.5 and custom firmware feels like a dual boot :) good old harleyg's.
downgrade ofcourse.. whos to say all homebrew will run off the eloader? we all know how much of a pain it can be with gta eloader bock. buh hey ? whos to complain.
nope is uses the TIFF exploit much like MPH's 2.0 downgrader.Quote:

Say, does anyone know who to get the Talkman Mic working? I've been using the Socom Mic with it, cause the Talkman USB Mic doesn't work with Devhook.
Downgrading is pretty easy... I was really worried about nothing when I went from 2.0 to 1.5, and from 2.6 to 1.5... Easy Peasy :)
Downgrading that what all people want
I just have a quick question which I think I know the answer to and it's probably not for sure right now but here goes: I have a 2.6 that is NOT a TA-082 but I don't have GTA. Will I be able to use this downgrader on my 2.6? And by the way downgrade over eloader anyday. Also, does this exploit break any ground on 2.8 being able to be emulated through devhook?
yes if someone makes oneQuote:

But I'm going to say it's a cache thing. Or perhaps just standard memory usage, isn't sufficient, but eloader on 2.60, had some speed problems.
Eloader is awesome, and it provided me with Doom, gbc emulator, etc when I was running a 2.60, But SNES emulators etc were very slow, but on 1.50, they are full speed.
So downgrading, not only can you emulate 2.71 anyway, but there will be no overhead, resulting in all applications running full speed.
 Something like that.
The reason that you didn't have fast emulators on your 2.6 was probably because it cannot use the ME.Quote:

As for downgrading, I bought my PSP in May and I still have not downgraded. I love my PSP and it wasn't a simple thing for me to just pony up $230+ for a handheld gadget. I'm glad I did, I was going to spend close to $400 on a pocket pc which did less than the PSP. I get to watch movies, browse the web, listen to music, read pdf books (chm reading is possible if you convert it to PDF using acrobat), emulate other consoles, and play homebrew games.
Why would I want to jeopardize such a good thing right now when I don't even have the inclination to play a UMD game? Why would I want to possibly destroy something that is working fine and will work even better once an eloader is made that supports kernal access?
Hmmm, would downgrading from 2.71 to 2.60/2.50, then that to 1.51 be a safer option than downgrading straight from 2.71 to 1.50?
I would downgrade any day, if I had 2.71! :D
I can't remember what the exact method is for 2.01+, but from what I remember of the 2.0->1.5 process, you fool the firmware to think it is a 1.0, then upgrade to 1.5.Quote:

Umm... Mario All-Stars on the go, answer your question? ;)Quote:

Ok, I give up... What's ME stand for? I know it's gonna be so friggen obvious once you tell me, hah...
My Opinion :)
Once 2.71 Eloader Is Perfected With Kernal Why On Earth Would U Downgrade?
2.71 = New 1.5 Soon ?
You may be right porchemasi. That's an awesome way to look at it... :)
ME = Media Engine
Use more memory for speed, thus better performance
lol wow sumone replied! :) kool
Fanjita keep it up!
I usually do. ;)Quote:

Thats correct freak;)
Downgrader's Manifesto:
To attempt a downgrade on one's firmware, is to stare the beast directly in the eyes. One must have proclaimed self confidence, aswell as a vast knowledge of the internal software workings of the Playstation Portable device.
A successful downgrade leaves one feeling quite triumphant, where they are welcomed to the utopian world of 'Homebrew' development with a hearty grin.
Alas, an unsuccessful downgrade attempt, will yeild dire results and cause oneself to possibly lose their said sanity. One must understand that an unsuccessful downgrade can cause the device to malfunction, indefinently...
Good luck. :)
well since the guys working on the loader and downgrader said and i quote "with the possibility of kernel homebrew running without the need for a game UMD, why would you need to downgrade? " i think i know what im gonna do.
well i will probably use the eloader first and when a stable downgrader comes out then i may decide to do that.
I'll go with the loader, because it has kernel mode and I'll still get to use my web browser and have all the new audio and video codecs from 2.70. As long as loader vs. downgrader is just a convienience issue, I'll use the loader.
