just not in mapthis
strange....
Hi Deniska,
Here you go! Let me know if you think you'll integrate these changes so I don't have to manually merge future releases :). Also let me know if I've done a good job of making sure my changes won't affect others.
Cheers,

You did take out the UMD and made sure WIFI switch is off, right? If it still does not work - post your config file here, i'd like to take a lookQuote:

thanx alot.
I was thinking about something....
IT would be cool if we could coutn the number of people who use this prog...
I wnat to be able to say that I'm so and so out of whomany who have a gps on their psp...
this kicks ass....
deniska rocks...
Deniska,
Is this the final release, or are you woorking on another one?
i hope so, MapThis is GREAT !!, really. i'm using it now for a month, and it's still fun. i hope deniska beats sony's GPS, becouse sony will make lotts of cash, deniska is just making it for you !
There has been some slowdown in development of MapThis due to urgent projects at work and some personal matters...Quote:

Currently I am almost done, implementing a new filesystem for maps, which should greatly reduce the map transfer to PSP time and make maps smaller and a bit more manageble...
So - expect more releases and improvements... ;-)
That's surperb news I look forward to them. The new improvement will greatly be appreciated since map size etc has always been an issue atleast for me. :DQuote:

The maps jump every time it tracks. What if it was one giant picture, instead of many different ones.
Just wondering.
FYI, I put together a beta build featuring new GPSFS (map file system) support.
The binaries and details are found here:
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...=33068&page=22
The gps device gives updates once a second, it's hard to predict where the object is between those position updates.Quote:

Was this ever tested on 2.x+ fw? More specifically 2.6 w/ TA-082 :)
I really want to do this and I'm ready to press the order button for the 236.
I'm using MapThis! v0.3 and it's already my absolute favorite homebrew app. I'd really like to be able to use GPS with it. Thanks deniska! :)
I think the map portion works in 2.x, but not GPS tracking.
Only 1.5 FW.
Its in the forums somewhere, dig for it.
crap! the last i heard, in the 30 page thread, was that it was for 1.5 only, but testing needed to be performed. one more reason to hate the new mobo.
I tried to compile source file (for fun), but getting some errors as below. I guess I am missing a library or something. Can you help me out?
Than you!
$ make
psp-g++ -I. -I/usr/local/pspdev/psp/sdk/include -O2 -G0 -Wall -g -DDANZEFF_SCEG
U -DNDEBUG -I. -I/usr/local/pspdev/psp/sdk/include -O2 -G0 -Wall -g -DDANZEFF_S

... more errors....
I am pretty sure I manually svn co'ed libjpeg and libpng and built them to get this to compile. There may be a few others. If you have trouble, post back in this thread and I'll find the references.

build zip libpng and libjpeg and then try to recompile..
tomorrow is my trip!! and my gps is not working propery!!! i mean my gps is working, i know i did my cable the right way but whenever i turn my gps on in ur app it says GPS ON and then goes LOCATION OUT OF RANGE! my gps is fresh out of the box and it's working properly but wat i don't get is why it won't receive anything??? i also used ur very first app that configures ur gps but it won't work either it just keeps on showing the same things like number and letters.... maybe the cable??? but i know i built it right.... i'm sure of it!!! maybe because it's out of batt becuz i tried it without charging it that's why it won't receive anything??.....please HELP me!!!! i really need ur help!! thanks!!!!
i would include a video of this guy that has the exact same problem as i do but unfortunately youtube is down right now...sorry....but i will keep on the look out!! thanks!!!
make sure that
1)FAKEFEED is 0 in config.txt
2) NO UMD in drive
3) WIFI switch is OFF
check your map's coordinates against some other source - make sure you have valid lat/lon...
.. and .. make sure that your GPS device has a good fix (Holux changes the blinking pattern of the GPS light)... For example, if Holux GPSlim236 does not have a good fix - it would transmit the coordinates of the last good fix, which may be somethere out of your map's range....
I had the same problem...
I always get the out of range problem when I'm not actually on the map.
Like your actual coordinates are not on the map you loaded.
Load a different one.
Try that...
That should help...
I'm using firmware 1.52 and downloaded mapViewer_v03 and copy the files under 1.5 folder to the MS.
Strangely, when I run the program, it give an error message saying "The game could not be loaded". I tried again by formatting the MS and copying the files to the Game folder.
Still, I get the same error message. Pls help!!!
Cheers, Kelvin.
FW 1.52?
Try downgrading to 1.50.
Maybe that will fix your problem.
what about 2.71 emulating 1.5? Is the hardware preventing the GPS to work? Are there any plans to make it available to the non-1.5ers?
Thanks guys!
GPS functionality requires certain kernal functions, which may not be available in 2.71..
You'll be better off downgrading to 1.5FW and emulating 2.71FW when needed... I think there is some work done in that direction already...
Unfortunately, that is not an option for me. I may get an older, non 082 PSP to have 1.5 and this GPS. Thanks for the help!
Thanks alot!!! u r a lifesaver!!!! and thanks for ur new GPSFS app it's so much better!!!! pc to psp transfer is so fast, saves space, and faster load times than .zip!!! keep em coming!! o i got one question.....how did u make a global map??? that comes wit the app??? bcuz i can only download maps that are only 1024x1024 so can u teach me how u did that and what is the best settings for my gps??? i got d same one u hav
In the download tool, navigate to the place you want the map for and select the most distant zoom.Quote:

Thank you ZeroAltitude and deniska. However I don’t have any experience with compiling business…. Could you explain step by step?
(I found couple of files, jpegsr6.zip and lpng1212.zip. But not sure whether they are right files nor how to use those. I unzip all of them into source folder and compiled it. It did go lot further, but end up another error as below. I knew that is not the right way.)
Thanks again.
/usr/local/pspdev/lib/gcc/psp/4.0.2/../../../../psp/bin/ld: cannot find -ljpeg
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [mapViewer.elf] Error 1
You probably want to checkout the source from SVN server from PS2dev.org (sometimes it's down though)
For example to get the zlib you type following line at your unix prompt:
svn co svn://svn.ps2dev.org/psp/trunk/zlib
Once you get the code - go to zlib directory and follow the instructions in README(.PSP) file
hi deniska, your program is supemegaGreat!! Thank you!!
And i've go a question: i've made a map of Moscow, but after loading it in Map This only one district is displayed. Its top-left area - "Leningradskoye shosse", but i was making a whole map of city!! There are all neccessery images and folders in _Moscow dir, i have no idea why it doesnt work as it should.... may be i mus add some lines in coords.txt .. i dont know...
please help me =)
MapThis! looks at bottom-right corner tile at the lowest zoom to determine map's dimension...
It first looks for 1x/1023/1x10231023 tile (checking if it is 1024x map) if it does not find it it looks for
1x/511/1x511511 one (assuming that it may be a 512x map) and so on...
So make sure you have that bottom right tile image in your maps folders...
yes there are all files in maps folders!!! Its very strange thing, not all images are loads from maps folders except only one area (leningradsoke shosse). This area is displayed on all levels of zoom (from 32x to 1x). And one more thing - In _Moscow folder i've got subfolders from 64x to 1x, files from 64x does not load at all.
here is link to my map
http://files.filefront.com//;6096801;;/
(88mb)
i dnot know may be only I have this trouble.
I ran unzipped map with MapThis! v0.3. I dont know if my MS is corrupt, but other soft such as loaders + iso/cso games works perfectly.
Ok i'll try to format my MS - hope it'll fix my trouble. Thank you!
You may want to try the beta version, attached to the download tool thread (somethere towards the end of it) - I tested your map with GPSFS version (although the map was left as directory structure)
Let me know how it works out...
Does anyone know for sure if this works with the GPSlim 240? It'd be nice to have that instead of the GPSlim 236 but I don't want to buy it if it won't work. One of the lines under interface is "Compatible Bluetooth device with Serial Port Profile (SPP)" which leads me to believe it will but confirmation would be nice. Thanks.
edit: I know you mentioned this device on the first page but when I went to the site and looked at the interface specs, the 236 had bluetooth and serial port as different entities whereas on the 240 the serial part was gone and there was only mention of serial within the bluetooth specs. The way I understand it is that the 240 doesn't actually have built in bluetooth but needs to connect to a serial bluetooth device via the usb-like port? Meaning that if i hooked it up to my psp it should interface properly right?
hey again thanks for the help!! so wat r u workin on rit now??? i'm really looking forward for more updates!! keep it up!!! i hav a suggestion.... wat if u add feature.... like a sound sayin like if u hav to turn left, right or straight then ur psp will talk sayin "TURN LEFT" or "TURN RIGHT" it doesn't hav to say the location just left and right for now....wat do u think?? and wat if wen u use the mark feature then iit will just act like a POI .....that way u don't hav to dl POIs to use....:)
by the way i hav another question.....how do u create different maps??? like the one u hav on ur latest mapthis v.03 like this
http://deniska.dcemu.co.uk/images/mapthis_v03.jpg
and how do u set ur settings for the best performance of the gps?? thanks!!! :D
