Can this version of mapthis be used as a map viewer without any gps and how? I'd like to test it out before going on a hunt for the gps receiver.

Neither of the FAQs mention how the get it working without the gps unit. I think that should be updated in there. Wikibooks entry mentions that mapthis can be used as a simple mapviewer but doesn't specify how. The actual info is buried somewhere in those 50+ page threads, which took me quite a while to read.Quote:

I have 3.40oe and a 290Gps receiver.
my directory structure:
PSP/GAME340/mapviewer/
EBOOT.PBP(from PSP-290_EBOOT)
usbacc.prx(from SRC)
usbgps.prx(from SRC)
-SYSTEM
-MAPS
all these files are taken from "MapThis0499_beta.rar"
Maybe i misunderstood something?pls help :(
EDIT:How can I dump a 3.40 firmware?The dumper tool only reaches 3.30!
EDIT2:Ok I dumped 3.40 prx files using 3.30 dumper and Mapthis started finally!
Strangely when I select max zoom it hangs while loading half the image, and PSP turns off...
I'm Using Sandisk4gbGaming, checked map files with latest gmdl and are all ok.
What could it be the problem now?!
EDIT: it hangs randomly when I change zoom level.
is 0499 the most recent?
I am currently downloading a map that covers the entire north american continent.
The psp wouldn't be able handle this would it?
EDIT. It has been two hours and the percent hasnt moved at all.
This obviously means no, it doesnt work.
