but the witnesses are dead 2000 years, and they are only really widely documented as witnesses in this book. religion is just one of those things that some people would like to believe and others don't. it depends on what kind of person you are. and i'm not saying it's good or bad, or smart or stupid, or dependant or independant.
The stories aren't meaningless (to some people), some people live by the bible (I don't know why). But honestly, "not everything" in the bible happened as what is actually said.
