What are the legal implications of porting the Half-life: UPLINK DEMO to the PSP.
I'm thinking if it's in the same style as Quake PSP, whereas only the necessary files to make it PSP compatible are released, and you must acquire it yourself. Not only that, it is also a demo.
I'm outta the loop with legality and GPL's, so would this still be a problem?
I understand it's an on or off situation, so the slightest doubt, then I'd go with NO, IT'S NOT OK.
Cheers :P
No idea, is the source code for the demo available? I'm guessing "no", so you really mean a code remake (not a port).
I'd presume you'd have no legal hassles if you didn't distribute the demo data files separate from the demo.
But I'm not a lawyer.
Yer me neither :)
Thanks man, just curious to see how the old girl (PSP) would handle it.
Anyway, while were on the subject of Quake, anyone know how to get the Analog stick to strafe instead of turn? I've tried heaps of different things, assuming the analog nub is just replacing the mouse and Quake thinks it's just a mouse, I tried various mouse bindings etc.
I even tried making it so the +strafe was always in use whenever the analog nub was moved at all... Bah any ideas?
Cheers :D
P.S - A 3 Player TCP/IP game between PC, Laptop & PSP is amazing.. With PSP hosting! Nice work!
@PeterM
So, are you going to continue the work on this project, or you gave up?! Do you still communicate with Chris?
Hmm I'm not sure really. I suspect it may not be possible the way we handle the analog nub at the moment. If I do any more work on the project I'll be sure to check it out.Quote:

I wouldn't say that I've given up, but I am completely swamped with Uni and Real Life just now.Quote:

I've not spoken to or heard anything from Chris in months. I suspect he's busy at the moment too.
I know it's frustrating from a game player's perspective not to see frequent updates, but it's hard to find time for hobby projects like Quake when there are higher priority things that need done.
can i put the Music tracks in mp3 format to hear the music or dont work the music in this port ??
push
nah, but you can encode them into wav files and write command lines into a config for playing those tracks... not even close to worth the time for the end result.
