The executable file just does a run once type thing, you don't need to open that to use the controller, just to initially install it.

I find it interesting that everyone thinks the six axis needs a driver to work in windows. In fact, since it is a standard HID device, it should work just fine. The only thing is, Sony designed the six axis so that it does not behave like a standard HID device. They actually had to go out of their way to make it not work! I've done extensive research into the controller and it reports it's HID functionality properly in every way. The only thing it doesn't do is report the data back. Presumably, the hack sends a command to the controller to start reporting. That's all it does.
In a similar move, Sony does not seem to keep any power to USB devices when in standby. So, there is no way to turn it on/off via a controller except through Blutooth. If anyone knows how to get the PS3 to turn on/off via USB, please enlighten me as I am working on an IR dongle to allow any Universal remote to control the PS3.
