Didn't Yoshihiro throw a hissy fit and leave the scene? Don't trust this guy, you'll get burned every time.
Since I'm French, here's a proper translation:
Quote:
No need to introduce PSX-P as I believe that everyone knows Yoshihiro is still working on his PSX emulator for PSP. In order to share with you his last progress, he planned to release a new playable version of his emulator this week-end.
Description: PSP-X is a PSX emulator for the PSP, ported from PCsx.
What's up Doc ? This emulator experienced several changes since the first version and Yoshihiro had to redo his work from scratch more than once.
The last up-to-date version will be released this week-end, despite it's still in early ages of development and thus, still far from the planned goals. Compatibility has been improved and I hope I'll be able to tell more about this before the release, because as I'm writing I don't have the latest version.
So why a public release ? Yoshihiro thought it was time to please people backing him up and also time to forget about the few jealous ones who try to despise his porting work. He's doing his best to make this emulator working, despite many difficulties.
The online release will include the sources, but to begin with, they will only be given to some PSP dev wizards, so they'll be able to judge the product's evolution.
Nice, but this obviously will be slow, no sound, and limited support :( but if this is real , its still one heck of an accomplishment
If that translation is true, then it will STILL VIOLATE GPL OF PCSX! The PCSX authors want the source code to be available to EVERYONE, not just "some psp dev wizards" (aka close friends who won't release the code, and thus the code will never make it to the general population's hand, so we can't see his BS)
Dagger89, please forgive my non-native English but I'm quite sure that the translation is correct. Porting from PCsx and restricting sources access to some elite coders are clearly staten in the initial text.
However, one thing is not clear, because of the 2 statements:
- PSP-X is a PCsx port.
- Yoshihiro has started his work several times from scratch.
Not sure if it's the porting work which has been re-done from scratch or if it's the emulator itself which has been completely rewritten.
Thank you Oops for your translation bro:),
umm for what im seeing is that this will be another just on the psp scene from its looong drought.
LOL i just cant wait to play Legend of Mana.
( O ) ( O )
lets hope for the best
he has no right to restict the source code to selected elite coders because its based off of gpl code - if he uses so much as one line of any gpl code he HAS to release the source code otherwise it is illegal software and the original authors of whatever code is used can pursue this through the courts.
Ill say it again, he is a thief and cannot be trusted. he has burned us all before and will do again. he WILL NOT release the source code because he doesnt want us to see what he stole and because he did virtually nothing to it. i seriously doubt he has the ability to recode an emulator from scratch.
Am I the only one tha can actually read??
Sounds like he's going to give the source to some devs before he actually releases the emulator publicly. That =/= gpl violation.Quote:
